Rydges adds a property on Sydney Harbour as brand expands

Rydges has announced that after winning a competitive bid, it has entered into a management agreement which will see the Holiday Inn Old Sydney re-branded as Rydges Sydney Harbour on January 14, 2020.

The win for Rydges, which is part of the Australian-owned Event Hospitality and Entertainment Limited (EVENT), comes off the back of a strong run of new management agreements over the last 18 months.

Plans are already underway for a refurbishment of the 176 guest room property, which will include a revitalisation of the hotel bars and restaurant.

EVENT’s Director of Hotels and Resorts, Norman Arundel, said, “This property is a true icon of Sydney, featuring a spectacular atrium lobby, restaurant, bar and rooftop swimming pool.

“Our team is excited about the appointment and look forward to bringing Rydges’ signature style and genuine commitment to delivering great service and hospitality to the hotel and our guests in the New Year.

“Given the significance of the property as one of the most in-demand hotels in the country, the strong understanding of the local market we bring is particularly important.

“We are looking forward to an exciting new era for the hotel, harnessing the power and expertise of the Rydges brand to realise the full potential of the property and deliver unrivalled experiences for guests,” Arundel said.

Rydges Sydney Harbour will sit alongside other EVENT hotels and resorts across Australia and New Zealand, including the QT and Atura brands and will be EVENT’s 16th hotel in Sydney.
