Speaking exclusively on camera to WAYFARER Host and Editor-In-Chief, James Wilkinson, today (Sep 11) at the launch of Virgin’s partnership with Australian suicide prevention charity ‘R U OK?’, Scurrah said the airline had a bright future despite foreign exchange rates and fuel costs “going in the wrong direction” which led to a loss over the 2018-19 financial year.
Scurrah, who was appointed CEO in March 2019, told WAYFARER several keys to success for Virgin Australia were the growth of travel in the Asia-Pacific region, outbound and inbound business to the United States, and offering key points of difference from other carriers.
On the partnership with R U OK?, Scurrah said it was important because of “Virgin’s powerful voice in the community” and “mental health was a topic and issue that touched every Australian”.
