Wayfarer TV exclusive: inside the stylish, remodelled Andaz Fifth Avenue in New York

485 5th Ave, New York, NY 10017, USA

by James Wilkinson

Located opposite the New York Public Library’s Stephen A. Schwarzman Building – well-known for its appearances in Ghostbusters and the Sex and the City movie – is one of our favourite boutique hotels in Midtown Manhattan, the Andaz Fifth Avenue.

The hotel partners with its famous neighbour extremely well – in the form of a book collection curated by the New York Public Library off the lobby, best enjoyed during the daily complimentary two-hour wine session from 6-8pm, and through personalised guided tours through the Schwarzman building.

While this has been one of our favourite things about the hotel since it opened, the stays have become all the better of late, thanks to a major makeover of the property that has seen its popular 184 residential-style rooms and suites take on an even more fashionable New York apartment feel (think new wood flooring, bedroom carpeting, new mattresses and bathroom finishes).

With a sumptuous in-room dining menu, unobtrusive service, a popular bar and restaurant below the lobby and the free mini-bars (non-alcoholic beverages and snacks, replenished daily), Andaz Fifth Avenue has all the essential elements for a brilliant night or a week away.

To give you an exclusive insight to the stylish property, award-winning host James Gregory Wilkinson is in New York City and catches-up with Andaz Fifth Avenue Director of Sales, Marketing and Events, Will Brandon, in the video below.
