Naim Audio releases its latest Mu-so Qb, the hottest speaker of the year

by James Wilkinson

Leading British hi-fi specialist, Naim Audio, has debuted its 2nd Generation Mu-so Qb, which is undoubtedly the hottest wireless speaker release this year.

The 2nd Generation Mu-so Qb evolves the brilliant styling of its predecessor, however, beneath its luxury aluminium casing is what Naim calls “a game changing performance, functionality, and feature upgrade”.

We absolutely agree, because the latest Mu-so Qb provides some of the best wireless audio ever found in a speaker through a system that is incredibly easy to stream through.

The Mu-so Qb features Naim’s unique music-streaming platform to offer a scintilating performance, whether playing digital music collections, internet radio, or music streaming services such as TIDAL and Spotify.

It boasts an illuminated volume dial, complete with a proximity sensor, which lights up in welcome when a hand approaches it.

Key features include easy access key playback controls, including favourite playlists and radio stations, Spotify resume and multi-room functionality. It can also be controlled through the updated Naim app and a new remote-control handset.

Powerful enough to fill most rooms, Mu-so Qb 2nd Generation’s relatively compact size also makes it a superb option for spaces such as kitchens and bedrooms.

Impressively, the Mu-so Qb also has multi-room synchronisation with other AirPlay 2-compatible wireless speakers the the Apple Home app or with other Chromecast devices.

The Mu-so Qb 2nd Generation is also incredibly stylish. It is available in a burnished grey aluminium chassis with the same upgraded speaker grille design as its Mu-so big brother; however, it can also be customised with optional replacement grilles in olive, terracotta or peacock colourways.

Its compact dimensions pack in 300 watts of music power, served up to all-new speaker drivers. Additionally, the advanced multicore Digital Signal Processor (DSP) delivers more than 10 times extra processing power for even greater musical accuracy.

With the Mu-so Qb, music can be streamed in superior high-resolution quality – with the capability to stream files up to 32bit/384kHz, or browse millions of songs through AirPlay 2 (including Apple Music), Spotify Connect, TIDAL, Chromecast built-in and Internet radio.

Upgraded Wi-Fi connectivity promises a slicker streaming experience, while Ethernet remains an option for those that prefer things hard-wired. It can also connect to devices wirelessly via Bluetooth.

Its USB input supports music playback from USB drives, while its optical input means you can easily connect the TV and experience enhanced sound quality from your favourite television programmes, films and games.

Controlling the Mu-so Qb is also easily done on the updated Naim app, allows you to browse by artist, genre, album and create playlists, as well as change the volume, light settings, room modes and more.
