The popular hotel officially reopened in March 2026 featuring refreshed rooms and suites, upgraded facilities, and a subtle new coral-coloured exterior, signalling the boutique property is ready to welcome guests with comfort, style, and renewed energy.
The reopening follows the completion of an extensive restoration program prompted by the December 2024 earthquake that affected Port Vila’s waterfront.

In the aftermath of the event, the hotel undertook one of the most ambitious refurbishment efforts in its history.
With strengthened internal framing, modern lightweight structural materials, and a full re‑engineering of its core systems, the project represents far more than a technical upgrade, it marks a true reawakening of one of Port Vila’s most cherished landmarks.
The hotel now features 74 rooms and suites with harbour views, private balconies, marble bathrooms and modern amenities.

Guests can also expect excellent dining experiences at the Grand Dining Room, Cabana Pool Bar and Lobby Lounge, with local produce served alongside a fantastic selection of international wines.
“Guests can expect the same signature Grand hospitality, now refreshed and strengthened,” said Grand Hotel and Casino Vanuatu Chief Operating Officer and Hotel General Manager, Mark Stanford.
“Now is the perfect time to experience everything the Grand has to offer, from comfort and luxury to exceptional dining and harbour views, not to forget the amazing tours and attractions Vanuatu has to offer.

“Perched on the edge of picturesque Port Vila harbour, the Grand is Port Vila’s only waterfront four-star hotel that is central to the city and a gateway to all of the incredible experiences the destination has to offer.
“It blends harbour-front style with central convenience, offering easy access to the CBD, shopping, and district dining, just 15 minutes from the airport,” he said.
Stanford said The Grand Hotel Vanuatu reopening marks a confident return and is a symbol of resilience and a promise that the owners, Melbourne’s Zagame family, have given so everyone can once again enjoy one of Port Vila’s best hotels.
