Review: Qatar Airways’ stylish Al Mourjan ‘The Garden’ Business Lounge in Doha

by James Wilkinson

When Qatar Airways opened the new Al Mourjan ‘The Garden’ Business Lounge at Hamad International Airport in Doha in mid-2023, expectations were high for a superlative offering given the carrier’s history of operating exceptional lounges and that’s exactly what the airline has delivered.

Walking into The Garden, located in the striking Northern terminal expansion of Hamad International Airport, the first thing you’ll notice is how spacious the lounge feels, particularly given the high ceilings of the terminal and how the Qatar team haven’t completely filled the space.

The Garden also overlooks an area of the terminal known as The Orchard – a wonderful tree-lined space that features tropical gardens and water features and surrounded by prominent retailers and restaurants – and gives you a sense of serenity in one of the world’s busiest airports.

Speaking of spacious, The Garden stretches over an area of 7,390 square metres and can accommodate up to 707 passengers across a range of areas from dining to relaxation areas.

Headlining the offering 24 quiet spaces – each designed to offer optimum relaxation available free of charge for the first six hours – and seven spa treatment rooms. There is also a fitness studio, pedicure and manicure stations, recreational areas and a nursery.

When it comes to having food or a cocktail or glass of wine, there are a range of spaces on offer, including hot and cold buffets, sushi and salad bars, coffee, patisserie and dessert areas, alongside cocktail and bistro bar offerings and à la carte dining.

Two of the best areas in the lounge to score a seat at are in the bar area and also the lounge chairs opposite that overlook The Orchard – here you’ll also find impeccable waiter service that includes glasses of premium French and other global wines.

On the food front, you can expect both buffets and à la carte menus that feature modern and traditional Arabic cuisine.

When the Al Mourjan ‘The Garden’ Business Lounge first debuted, then Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Akbar Al Baker – who has since retired – promised that passengers could enhance their journey on a whole new level.

“This world-class lounge showcases a sophisticated way of travel, centred in comfort, wellness and nature,” Al Baker said at the opening.

That is exactly what Qatar Airways has achieved because this is one of the world’s finest premium lounges and arguably the best Business Class Lounge currently on offer in the global Oneworld network, which the carrier is a member of.

The Al Mourjan ‘The Garden’ Business Lounge is located Northern terminal of Hamad International Airport and is open to Qatar Airways and oneworld First and Business Class passengers.
