Almost 85% of the target population (not including far eastern islands, pregnant, breastfeeding, under 18), some 494,855 citizens, have had their first dose and 27% have received the second dose.
A large number of tourism businesses across the nation also have 100% of their staff inoculated – including Tourism Fiji, Fiji Airways, Outrigger resorts, Royal Davui, Laucala, Volivoli, Turtle Island Resort, Yasawa Island Resort, Vomo Island and Rosie Holidays – and are ready to welcome international travellers.
Both of those milestones have prompted the Government’s ‘Care Fiji Commitment’ to launch a new module to incorporate education and recognition for vaccinations.
That includes a new ‘100% Vaccinated’ stamp for approved operators whose entire teams are fully vaccinated, alongside ensuring those operators are up to date with all COVID-19 health and hygiene practices.
“We want to ensure safe, yet seamless travel in the new normal and vaccination is a way to foster our collective responsibility in ensuring safety for both operators and consumers throughout the pandemic,” said Tourism Fiji Director of Marketing, Emma Campbell.
“As a destination we are at our best when we align on a clear message and the vaccination toolkit will help the tourism industry communicate and celebrate the amazing progress that Fiji is making in rolling out vaccinations and keeping Fiji safe.”
The Care Fiji Commitment was launched in October 2020 and now has over 250 businesses in the program.
