Sydney Airport has announced EgyptAir as its newest airline with plans to launch a new service connecting Cairo, Singapore and Sydney from 2027, and creating a new air link between Australia and Egypt.

The proposed service will be the first direct link from Sydney to Cairo for Singapore and Australia, with Egypt being Sydney Airport’s largest unserved market in Africa for Australian travellers.

The service will provide passengers with convenient access to Cairo, one of the world’s oldest and most culturally significant cities, as well as onward connections across Egypt, Africa, Europe and the Middle East through EgyptAir’s extensive network.

Sydney Airport CEO, Scott Charlton, said: “This is a major milestone for our international network, delivering greater choice for passengers and unlocking new opportunities for tourism, trade and cultural links between Australia, Egypt and the broader region.

“Egypt is the largest unserved African market for Australian travellers, and a Sydney service by EgyptAir is a big step forward in improving connectivity between Australia and Egypt.

“We look forward to working with EgyptAir as it progresses its plans for Sydney.”

Further details, including schedules, aircraft type and ticket sales, will be announced closer to launch.
