Delta’s has unveiled the interiors of the upcoming Airbus A321neo, slated to be delivered late 2020, which the airline says will feature “industry-leading domestic First Class seats with more privacy, more comfort, larger screens and superior stowage”.

“As an industry leader in innovation, we are always looking for new ways to improve the overall customer experience,” said Delta Managing Director of Product Development, Mauricio Parise. “Customer insights were instrumental to the new design, and we spent hundreds of hours listening to customers so that we could respond with thoughtful improvements.

“We’ve completely customized every feature on the seat to create a truly unique, premium seating product for domestic First Class.”

The airline partnered with RECARO and Factorydesign, using customer feedback and industry trends, to develop the next generation of domestic first-class cabin seats.

Designed to be experience-rich for customers, Delta’s new seat design will bring elements of the international travel experience that customers have enjoyed on widebody aircraft to domestic routes for customers to enjoy at home.

Key features of Delta’s A321neo First Class seats include:
-A fixed headrest allowing increased privacy and better sleep without compromising seat width or space;
-A larger and sturdier tray table, including 25% more workspace;
-3 times more volume for storing personal items and devices, including dedicated laptop stowage and water bottle stowage for all phases of flight; and
-Customer-facing power ports and enhanced memory-foam cushions for added comfort.

In addition to its latest seat design, Delta’s new A321neo will feature a next-generation, wireless in-flight entertainment system created by the airline’s in-house start-up, Delta Flight Products.

Every seat features an oversized high-definition seatback screen with personalized entertainment experiences that customers are accustomed to seeing at home or on a mobile device.

These seat enhancements are part of Delta’s multi-billion dollar investment in the onboard customer experience.

In the past several years, the airline has made significant enhancements including seat-back entertainment systems with  free entertainment,  free mobile messaging, high-capacity overhead bins, access to WiFi on nearly all flights,  free Main Cabin meals  on select flights, Westin Heavenly In-Flight Bedding, new TUMI amenity kits, chef-curated meals paired with wines hand-selected by Master Sommelier Andrea Robinson, premium noise-canceling  headphones in Delta One and Delta Premium Select and more.

Delta and Airbus have agreed to terms for a 100 firm and 100 option order for state-of-the-art Airbus 321neo (new engine option) aircraft.

The airline will configure the A321neo to a total of 197 seats including seating for 20 in First Class, 30 in Delta Comfort+ and 147 in the main cabin.

The aircraft will feature on-demand inflight entertainment, high-speed satellite WiFi, power ports as well as streaming video content will be available at every seat through Delta Studio.

The cabin will also feature expansive, 25-percent-larger bookshelf-style overhead bins and full spectrum LED cabin lighting.

Delta expects to take delivery of its first A321neo in the fourth quarter of 2020 with new aircraft arriving through 2023.
