Club Wyndham, part of global vacation ownership business Travel and Leisure Co., has acquired its second property in Japan – a 32-room ski resort in Shiga Kogen, home of the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics.

Shirakabaso Resort will be rebranded to Club Wyndham Shirakabaso Shiga Kogen and become the first international resort located within the Joshin‘etsu Kogen National Park. Club Wyndham Shirakabaso Shiga Kogen is the 20^th property in the country managed by Travel and Leisure Co. and offers Club Wyndham’s Asia Pacific members a destination in regional Japan. “Japan is one of the world’s leading tourist destinations and is a market of opportunity and growth for us,” said Travel and Leisure Co. It includes a variety of amenities including six indoor and outdoor onsen hot springs, a sauna, restaurant and private dining room, a whisky bar, lobby café, gift shop and rooftop terrace. The acquisition follows an initiative led by the Japanese government to revitalise national parks through private sector investment with the addition of at least one luxury resort in each of its 35 national parks by 2031.
