The latest signing of Holiday Inn Express Perth City Centre on St Georges Terrace further strengthens IHG’s Perth portfolio and expands the hotel group’s partnership with SKS Group.
The deal follows an earlier signing between the pair for the 170-room Holiday Inn Express Cockburn, slated to open this December. Together, the two developments represent 273 rooms across two Perth locations. The pair’s relationship also extends to Malaysia, where SKS Group owns Holiday Inn Johor Bahru City Centre.
Taking over the former Singapore Airlines House office building, Holiday Inn Express Perth City Centre will transform into contemporary accommodation for business and leisure travellers.
Located at 178 St Georges Terrace, the hotel offers access to the city’s major corporate offices, Elizabeth Quay and the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre.

“Perth remains an important growth market for IHG, supported by strong corporate demand and increasing appeal as a leisure destination,” said IHG Hotels and Resorts Managing Director, Australasia and Pacific, Matt Tripolone.
“We’re delighted to be expanding our partnership with SKS Group and bringing another Holiday Inn Express to such a prominent CBD location.
“Holiday Inn Express combines an efficient operating model with the strength of IHG’s global distribution, IHG One Rewards loyalty programme and commercial capabilities.
“It’s about matching the right brand with the right location to deliver long-term value for owners, and we’re confident both hotels will be great additions to our Perth portfolio.”
Holiday Inn Express Perth City Centre will feature the brand’s latest Generation 5 design, introducing contemporary, flexible spaces and smart technology. Facilities will include the signature Express Café and Bar, one meeting room and an on-site gym.
SKS Group Director and Chief Financial Officer, Eugene Lim, said: “We see significant long-term opportunity in Perth’s hotel sector, and this project is an important step in expanding our hospitality portfolio with IHG in Australia.
“Transforming 178 St Georges Terrace allows us to give an established CBD building a new purpose, combining our development expertise with the strength of the Holiday Inn Express brand to deliver a quality hotel in a prime city location.”
