Marriott International is set to debut its luxury JW Marriott brand resort to the Pacific Islands in the first quarter of 2027.

The hotel group signed an agreement with the Fiji National Provident Fund (FNPF) to open the 282-key JW Marriott Fiji Resort and Spa on Denarau Island next year, with reservations anticipated to open in December 2026.

This signing is part of a conversion deal of the existing Westin Fiji Golf Resort and Spa, and is expected to strengthen Fiji’s position in the luxury travel market to meet traveller demands for luxury tourism experiences.

Following the conversion to JW Marriott Fiji Resort and Spa, the hotel is set to feature premium guestrooms and suites, two-bedroom villas with private swimming pools, a large family pool and a dedicated adults-only pool with a poolside bar and dining.

The transformation will also include a new lobby and communal areas, dedicated kids club and a teen zone.

“Fiji is one of the Pacific’s most compelling resort destinations, and we are excited to work with Fiji National Provident Fund to introduce JW Marriott to the market,” said Marriott International President, Asia Pacific Excluding China, Rajeev Menon.

“JW Marriott’s focus on mindful experiences, meaningful connections and holistic well-being is a natural complement to the resort’s beautiful natural setting on Denarau Island,” he said.

“We look forward to creating a destination where guests can come together, be present and experience the warmth of Fiji through the lens of this exceptional luxury brand.”

The resort’s extensive bar and dining offering is planned to include an all-day dining restaurant bringing together global flavours and Pacific traditions; JW Market, offering casual all-day refreshments and grab-and-go options; a specialty restaurant drawing on Japanese influences with locally sourced ingredients; a wine and cocktail-focused lounge; and an elevated dining and cultural experience rooted in Fijian tradition.

Fiji National Provident Fund Chief Executive Officer Viliame Vodonaivalu, said: “As custodians of our members’ retirement savings, every investment decision we make is centred on creating long-term value for the people of Fiji.

“The introduction of JW Marriott is a significant milestone for one of our key tourism assets and reflects our confidence in the future of Fiji’s tourism industry.

“Through this collaboration, we are not only strengthening an important investment on behalf of our members, but also supporting an industry that creates jobs, attracts visitors and contributes to the growth of our economy.

“We are proud to see this iconic Fijian resort enter a new chapter with one of the world’s leading luxury hospitality brands.”

The hotel is also planning to capture Fiji’s growing MICE market, with a 309-square-metre ballroom, a 490-square-metre pre-function foyer, and five dedicated meeting rooms. The ballroom is planned to accommodate up to 180 guests in a banquet seating.
