A new five-star hotel is tipped to open in Queensland as part of a new 25,000sqm premium lifestyle mixed-use precinct set to commence development in 2027.

Approval has been granted for a landmark 25,000sqm North Lakes Town Centre to be developed by Queensland-owned Comiskey Group in the City of Moreton Bay.

The mixed-use lifestyle precinct will see the transformation of a prominent 1.72-hectare site to include a 144-room five-star hotel, signature hospitality, premium and casual dining, retail, wellness, entertainment and expansive landscaped public spaces.

The nine-storey five-star hotel is expected to be conceived as an “urban resort”, set alongside a 2000 sqm signature Comiskey Group hospitality venue that will serve as a major anchor for the precinct.

The new development has been designed as an integrated, experience-led precinct to create a new day-to-night destination for visitors and the Moreton Bay community.

“We see this as something genuinely different for North Lakes and for Moreton Bay. There isn’t currently a destination of this scale or this calibre in the area bringing all of these experiences together,” Comiskey Group Director, Rob Comiskey said.

“We’ve deliberately moved away from the traditional shopping centre model. This is about creating somewhere people actually want to spend time, whether that’s staying in the hotel, going out for dinner, meeting friends, enjoying entertainment, exercising or simply spending time in the public spaces.”

“The approval means we can now move into the next exciting stage of bringing this vision to life.”

Construction is scheduled to commence in early 2027, with consultants engaged and detailed design work already underway, according to the group.

Design is led by architects Bureau Proberts, and is expected to feature contemporary architecture, landscaped public spaces and a strong connection between indoor and outdoor environments.

“City of Moreton Bay is proving to be a genuine hotspot for hotel and hospitality investment, and this significant commitment by local Comiskey Group is another strong vote of confidence in our growing visitor economy and the enormous opportunities our City presents,” City of Moreton Bay Mayor, Peter Flannery said.

“This approval marks an exciting milestone for North Lakes and for Moreton Bay, with a world-class dining, accommodation, entertainment and lifestyle precinct set to create a landmark destination for locals and visitors,” Mayor Flannery said.

“It’s fantastic to see Comiskey Group’s vision continue to take shape in the heart of North Lakes, delivering the kind of premium experience our community has been calling for while helping position Moreton Bay as a must-visit destination ahead of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games and beyond.”

The announcement comes as the City of Moreton Bay welcomed its first premium Accor hotel with the opening of Peppers Clear Mountain in September following a multi-million-dollar upgrade.
