Marriott Bonvoy is celebrating a successful Australian Open as the event’s official accommodation partner for the fourth year running, with increased occupancy at its 10 Melbourne hotels, enhanced brand awareness and greater member engagement.

Marriott Bonvoy’s 5-star hotels within close proximity to Rod Laver Arena ran at 90-95% occupancy for the two weeks of the Australian Open. Overall bookings increased 8% year on year, and the hotelier has seen double digit ADR growth compared to January 2024.

“The Australian Open is a chance for us to engage with our growing base of Marriott Bonvoy members, now measuring 220 million globally,” said Marriott International Area Vice President ANZP, Jason Nuell.

“We have seen an increase in member penetration compared to last year, with three quarters of stays coming from our loyal Marriott Bonvoy Members.

“We have also seen a growing number of stays coming from international guests, particularly from the US and China, highlighting the increasing global appeal of the tournament and our brand.

Over the Summer of Tennis, Marriott Bonvoy will host over 800 of the biggest names in tennis, VIP’s and tournament officials across its portfolio of hotels across Australia including The Westin (Melbourne & Perth), The Ritz-Carlton (Melbourne & Perth), W Hotels (Melbourne, Sydney & Brisbane), Sheraton (Melbourne & Sydney), Marriott (Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide), and The Tasman, a Luxury Collection Hotel in Hobart.

“As the official hotel partner of Australia’s premier sporting event and one of the world’s biggest Grand Slams, we have a unique opportunity to showcase our unparalleled travel experiences to a broad audience,” Marriott International Area Director of Marketing ANZP, Deb McDiarmid, told HM.

“This collaboration highlights the unique ways in which travel connects our members to unrivalled experiences matched to their interests.

“This year, we offered over 55 exclusive Australian Open x Marriott Bonvoy Moments to our members, including VIP access to matches, behind-the-scenes stadium tours, clinics with tennis legends, and entry to our exclusive Marriott Bonvoy Lounge.

“Demonstrating the immense value that Marriott Bonvoy Moments brings to our members’ experiences at the Australian Open, we saw a total of 14 million points redeemed at AO24, and we are on track to significantly exceed this number in 2025.”
