The move has been welcomed by the nation’s flagship carrier, Fiji Airways, with the company’s Managing Director saying it is exciting for travel to the country.
“Fantastic news from the Fijian Government this morning to make travel to Fiji easier and safer as vaccination rates continue to climb in our key markets,” said Fiji Airways Managing Director and CEO, Andre Viljoen.
“From 1 May, travelling to Fiji will be as easy as showing proof of vaccination for those 16 years old and above, travel insurance, and confirmation of a RAT test booking from entrytestfiji.com within 48-72 hours of arrival.
“On the cusp of the high season, we’d already booked in big numbers of arrivals from Aussies and Kiwis looking to swap the winter weather for Fijian paradise.
“With this news, we expect even bigger numbers and we’ll be ramping up our service in response,” Viljoen said.
Known for its white sand beaches, turquoise waters, year-round tropical warmth and world-renowned hospitality, Fiji has welcomed more than 100,000 international visitors since its borders opened back up in December 2021.
As Fiji continues to update and simplify entry requirements, travellers from around the globe will be able to enjoy a famous Fiji holiday and experience everything the country is known for.
“This is yet another significant step for Fiji, making it easier than ever to travel to our idyllic shores from around the globe,” said Tourism Fiji CEO, Brent Hill.
“The Fijian Government has continued to respond to data and science and moved quickly to make these changes, as more countries around the world also relaxed their protocols.
“There has never been a better, simpler time to come to Fiji than now,” he said.
