The new JW Marriott Auckland, located in downtown Auckland, features 271 guest rooms and 15 suites, an array of wellness offerings, local art and references to landscape and culture in its design.
Marriott International Area Vice President – Australia, New Zealand and Pacific, Jason Nuell, highlighted the brand’s belief that “a connection to the natural environment is an important part of nourishing one’s soul”.
“JW Marriott Auckland embodies the brand’s commitment to providing a haven where guests can focus on feeling whole in mind, body, and spirit,” Nuell said.
“JW Marriott Auckland is a destination where both locals and international travellers can experience a blend of modern luxury and exceptional hospitality in the heart of the city to pause, recharge, and reconnect.”
Singaporean architecture firm O37, led by Founder and Creative Director, Leonard Lee, is behind the hotel design, which draws inspiration from New Zealand’s art, culture, natural surroundings and seasonal changes.
A bespoke sculptural hand-blown chandelier by Lasvit, known as Watersplash, was inspired by the country’s rivers and lakes, designed to cast reflections of water on the ceiling, and a moss wall in the foyer brings the outside in.
The nature-inspired colour palette subtly shifts between each suite, with deep greens and earthy tones referencing the Waitākere Ranges, sun-bleached sandstone and driftwood tones in a nod to the Waitematā Harbour, and rich charcoals and rusts representing the city’s volcanic landscape.
A deliberate asymmetry throughout the rooms seen in artwork placements and no two bedside tables being the same, reference the imperfections in nature.
The hotel features a wellness centre spanning 220 square meters and includes a 14-meter-long heated indoor pool with views of the harbour and city.
The wellness offerings include hot and cold recovery treatments such as a cold plunge pool, a dry-heat sauna, and a steam chamber. A state-of-the-art fitness centre is kitted out with Technogym equipment, with personal training sessions available upon request.
All guest rooms offer yoga mats and risers, alongside an in-room program of wellness and workout routines, meditation playlists and eco-friendly products from Aromatherapy Associates.
Ahead of their arrival, the hotel’s Wellness Concierge connects with guests to discuss the purpose of their stay and is available to offer guidance on wellness offerings during their stay. In early 2026, the hotel plans to launch a series of holistic wellness experiences, including sound healing.
Lobby bar Forum offers barista-made coffee and small bites from local artisan bakehouse, Wild Wheat, throughout the day, before transforming into a welcoming bar at night.
The hotel restaurant, Trivet, is led by Head Chef Wallace Mua, who delivers a menu inspired by the unique flavours and techniques of Polynesian cuisine. In September, the hotel plans to launch a contemporary Teppan House offering Japanese-inspired dishes.
On the hotel rooftop, the brand’s signature JW Garden is home to an herb garden – which provides a variety of herbs and edible flowers to the onsite food and beverage venues – and rescue bee hives.
There are six function spaces, including a pillarless ballroom featuring a 7-meter wide LED screen, two additional 4-meter wide high-definition screens, and built-in high-tech sound and lighting.
“I am honored to bring the JW Marriott vision of luxury and well-being to life in this vibrant city,” said JW Marriott Auckland General Manager, Girish Talreja.
“Our goal is to create an exceptional guest experience and provide a sanctuary where guests can relax, recharge, and create lasting memories.
“Our team looks forward to welcoming guests to our urban oasis and showcasing the best of Auckland’s hospitality.”
