The Maybourne Beverly Hills is one of the most exciting new hotels in Los Angeles. It spans nine floors with panoramic sun filled balconies, overlooking the Beverly Cañon Gardens, dotted with swaying palm trees and verdant gardens.
Maybourne’s guestrooms and suites were artfully designed in collaboration with designer Bryan O’Sullivan, resulting in bright, spacious interiors with bespoke furniture and a soothing Californian pastel palette, but all with a European flair.
“An exquisite blend of superlative design and contemporary comfort, our new luxury rooms and suites are a sanctuary from which to discover a city steeped in Hollywood history and cultural cachet,” says The Maybourne Beverly Hills General Manager, Sam Jagger.
“Wide, floor-to-ceiling windows welcome the subtle glow of the same technicolour skies that inspired the formidable filmmakers of the Golden Age.
“From the armchairs to the ottomans, luxurious takes on mid-century classic furniture hark back to L.A.’s rich design heritage – after all this was the home of such pioneers as Charles and Ray Eames and Richard Neutra, who worked prolifically in the shadow of these very hills.
“Highly collectible artworks, sumptuous marble bathrooms and 600-thread count linens provide the most exquisite finishing touches to the finest of stays,” he says.
Our favourite room category is the Rodeo Suite, which is sleek and spacious, yet calm and cocooning. Expect 1,000 sq ft of light-filled space dotted with nooks for leafing through the curated library of contemporary art, fashion and photography books.
In the Rodeo Suite, curved furnishings, calming tones and crisp linens define the interiors, a modernist interpretation of mid-century design. Find a dash of deco in the fluid, rounded lines and fluted features.
The Suite also features marble bathrooms, while the elegant dining table serves up an invitation to entertain over stylish suppers or cocktails.
With the Hollywood Hills in the distance, the scene is set and that’s accentuated with all of the brilliant suite freebies, including a bottle of Billecart-Salmon Le Réserve NV Champagne, seasonal amenity, fresh flowers on arrival, complimentary unpacking, packing and pressing up to five items, complimentary John Lobb Shoeshine service and access to a BMW i7 and usage for up to four hours per day.
All rooms also include a minibar stocked with Californian treats including complimentary soft drinks, complimentary bottled water and access to the house car service.
Guests also have access to a 24-hour fitness centre equipped with Peloton bikes, Technogym elliptical trainers and dumbbells by Pent, alongside preferred bookings at the largest luxury spa in Los Angeles, featuring a mineral pool, steam rooms and sauna.
Art is central to the design and guest experience at each Maybourne property and here you can expect stunning artworks and photographs across the hotel alongside stunning, instagrammable floral displays that change regularly in the lobby.
Atop the hotel is the heated rooftop pool and private cabanas, with food and drinks – sip on a freshly-squeezed juice and enjoy a light salad or treat yourself to a chilled glass of rosé and a selection of sharing snacks – from one of Los Angeles’ best bars and restaurants, Dante.
Wayfarer’s favourite hotel bar in Los Angeles, Dante arrived at the property in Spring 2023 and brought a taste of Australia and New York City to the roof of the Maybourne Beverly Hills in stunning fashion.
Dante hails from Greenwich Village in New York City and opened in 2015 before quickly earning some of the world’s most major awards in the bar and restaurant industry, including number one and number two on the World’s 50 Best Bars list, Time Out New York’s Bar of the Year, and World’s Best Bar and Best American Restaurant Bar at the Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards.
The Dante brand, which now has four venues in New York alongside Beverly Hills, is helmed by Australians Linden Pride and Nathalie Hudson, who have a focus on celebrating the traditional way of community, good living and dining.
Dante Beverly Hills serves up its signature, award-winning, aperitivo-style cocktails, paired with an Italian and Mediterranean inspired food menu centred around a wood-fired oven, showcasing fresh ingredients sourced from small, local producers.
“We couldn’t be happier to have immerse ourselves in the Los Angeles community and grown the Dante brand in an authentic, organic way,” Pride says.
From leisurely lunches to sundowners, signature spritzes are paired with Mediterranean-inspired dishes, beautifully prepared in the wood-fired oven.
Here, it’s easy to settle into the shifting, pastel-hued interior for hours while enjoying freshly shucked oysters, followed by crispy king salmon and a velvety panna cotta. Or you can soak up panoramic vistas over pizza bianca on the alfresco terrace, dotted with white marble and verdant foliage.
There’s also live music every afternoon and don’t miss Dante’s $10 Martini Hour, from 3pm-5pm daily.
While Dante might be our favourite spot, the hotel is also home to several other top venues for drinking and dining, including The Maybourne Bar for cocktails, The Terrace for a delicious lunch or dinner and an exceptional Spritz, plus The Maybourne Café for a fantastic chai latte.
The hotel has also recently introduced Prêt-à-Portea, the legendary fashion tea from its London sister hotel, The Berkeley.
After nearly two decades of delighting guests in London, the beloved high fashion take on afternoon tea has made its American debut with Prêt-à-Portea: The Red Carpet Collection.
A favourite among fashionistas with a sweet tooth, Prêt-à-Portea has redefined afternoon tea with playful couture cakes turning celebrity fashion moments into edible art.
Prêt-à-Portea: The Red Carpet Collection, reflecting its new LA home will feature a curation of cakes that pay homage to iconic red carpet moments, from Björk’s famous Oscar swan dress by Marjan Pejoski to JLo’s infamous green Versace gown at the Grammy’s.
Served in the hotel’s Terrace Tearoom just round the corner from fashion favourite Rodeo Drive, guests will enjoy a glamorous tea experience where English garden charm meets Hollywood chic.
The pastries, crafted by Executive Pastry Chef Brooke Martin, are presented on peach and white striped bone China by French porcelain brand Bernardaud.
“We are honouring the tradition from London with a unique LA spin paying homage to our destination in celebrating some of the most iconic moments in Red Carpet history,” Jagger says.
Prêt-à-Portea: The Red Carpet Collection is served Friday through Sunday each week with two seatings at 2:00 pm and 3:00 pm.
The experience includes a selection of delectable tea sandwiches, scones, and savoury delights, along with nine gorgeous couture-inspired desserts, and a glass of champagne.
Whether you’re here to relax by the pool, shop along Rodeo Drive or have some of the world’s best cocktails at Dante, The Maybourne Beverly Hills is one hotel that needs to be high on your Los Angeles hotel list.
