For the past two decades, Mondrian Los Angeles has been one of California’s most playful hotels, thanks to its brilliant location in the heart of the Sunset strip alongside stylish rooms, a happening pool deck and fantastic food and drinks. James Wilkinson checks-in.

Thanks to a major upgrade of Mondrian Los Angeles’ hip rooms and suites, what was already a fantastic experience has been further elevated and the accommodations on offer have never looked better.

“Following an audacious renovation, you escape reality and revel in the comforts of one of the Mondrian’s 236 spacious accommodations,” says Mondrian Los Angeles General Manager, Norbert Relecker.

“The hotel’s striking guest rooms and suites have been crafted to offer an inspired fusion of beauty and comfort.

“This landmark destination celebrates the best of a surrealist aesthetic and devoted attention to detail,” he says.

Mondrian Los Angeles was always known for having some of the most stylish rooms in West Hollywood and many travellers would choose the property for the accommodations and not just the happening weekend scene.

Our pick of the remodelled rooms are the spacious 750 sqft (69 sqm) One Bedroom Suites, that come complete with a work desk, lounge room, kitchenette, bar and rainfall shower.

“Whimsical and striking Benjamin Noriega-Ortiz design touches are infused throughout this lavish and spacious suite,” Relecker says.

“Seductive luxury is found in the details—mirrored surfaces, stark white furnishings, textured wallpaper, crisp cotton linens and an oversized two-sided mirror that reveals a flat-screen TV.

“The gleaming Silestone tiled bathroom offers a rainfall shower to restore and luxurious MALIN+GOETZ for Ciel Spa bath amenities to refresh,” he says.

The upgrade of the property has firmly brought Mondrian Los Angeles back to its roots as a fun boutique luxury hotel in a fantastic location.

“This luxury boutique hotel in the heart of West Hollywood captures everything the Strip stands for – excitement, invincibility and glamour,” Relecker says.

“Entering Mondrian through its signature, thirty-foot mahogany doors, guests will find the recently expanded lobby, accented with hues of deep purple and complemented by custom-designed furniture, a Lucite indoor swing and a mushroom-inspired concierge desk.

“Surrounded by the beauty of the hotel lobby is our world class Business Center with complimentary high speed wireless internet access.

“Up in the sky, amid the clouds of Los Angeles, guests can enjoy the stunning view from our Skybar deck.

“There’s also Exxhibit Boutique, our gift shop, offers curated items tailored for the LA scene,” he says.

Having experienced the property on three occasions over the past 15 years, it’s quite easy to say Mondrian Los Angeles is at its best and there’s more to come with a new restaurant set to be revealed in the coming months.

Mondrian Los Angeles is located at 8440 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, California 90069, United States of America.
