The aircraft will fly up to three times a week between Brisbane and Wellington, bringing a new level of passenger comfort and efficiency to the route.
Compared to previous generation aircraft, it offers reduced noise footprint and up to 25 per cent less fuel burn.

“Today is a significant milestone in our fleet renewal program,” said QantasLink Chief Executive Officer Mark Dal Pra.
“Feedback from customers about the A220 has been fantastic and we’re really excited for the aircraft to take off on its first scheduled international route.
“Brisbane is an important market for us and the A220’s size and economics make them a great fit for many of our trans-Tasman and Pacific routes.”

The A220 also has a longer range than the aircraft it is replacing, creating more route possibilities and travel options as the fleet grows.
The aircraft is part of the Qantas Group’s historic fleet renewal program, with more than 200 new aircraft on order, providing customers with improved comfort, efficiency and reliability.
QantasLink recently received its 11th A220, with four more expected to join the fleet by the middle of the year.
