Qantas drops a new Australian domestic sale

by James Wilkinson

Following overwhelmingly positive customer feedback on Qantas’ recent international sale, the flying kangaroo has discounted more than 500,000 fares on most routes across its domestic network for 72 hours.

Domestic Economy sale fares start from $109 one-way, with more than 25 routes on sale for under $150, for travel from April to mid-September 2024.

The sale includes destinations to and from most capital cities and regional towns, including Brisbane to Prosperine and Adelaide to Kangaroo Island, helping customers to discover places across Australia and provide a boost for local tourism.

This comes off the back of a New Zealand sale Qantas launched this week, which is the biggest outbound and inbound market for Australia, with sale fares to Auckland, Christchurch, Queenstown and Wellington.

International Economy sale fares start from $499 return and include flights to and from most Australian capital cities for travel between March and December this year.

In the most recent government data, Qantas was again the most on time major domestic airline for 16th consecutive month.

This week, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission found domestic airfares had fallen, with average revenue per passenger in December 2023 down 13.4 per cent compared to the same month in 2022.
