From April 16, the Toga-owned hotel be fully shut down for renovations with a target completion date ahead of Christmas and New Year, in December 2024.
TFE Hotels’ Group Chief Operating Officer, Chris Sedgwick, described it as a “major scale project” and “a huge repositioning of the asset”, which is in line with TFE Hotel’s contemporary vision for the brand.
“Elevating the Adina brand and hotel experience across our network is our absolute goal – city by city and hotel by hotel,” Sedgwick said.
“Adina Town Hall – which launched in 1998 enjoys an enviable location sought out by both business travellers and leisure guests wanting to explore the city – is the latest in the TFE Hotels portfolio to undergo an extensive update as part this rolling refurbishment program and indeed, Sydney is a massive focus for us in 2024 with the Adina in Darling Harbour also in our sights. It’s an exciting time for TFE Hotels and our homegrown Adina Hotels brand.”
Adina Town Hall stands tall 27 storeys above Sydney’s bustling CBD, offering views from many rooms across Darling Harbour and the cityscape.
The hotel features generous conferencing spaces and 145 one, two and three-bedroom and studio apartments overlooking central Sydney.
Award-winning sustainable design firm, Bates Smart, have been tasked with reimagining the hotel interiors, with the brief “leave no area untouched”. The works will span all 20 guest and public floors, from guest rooms and bathrooms through to the lobby and corridors, four versatile conference spaces, pool, and gym.
Bates Smart’s overall design concept is to create a “home away from home” experience for guests, with a “new level of casual elegance”.
The new cosmopolitan direction will see completed guest rooms look and feel like contemporary long-stay apartments, with Bates Smart taking inspiration from refined CBD residential projects as well as a nod to fashion and retail.
Functional and atmospheric lighting will play a key role in the design of guest rooms, while glamorous bathrooms vanity units will feature side lit mirrors, dressing table and elegant ottoman that retreats beneath.
The revamped hotel is also set to benefit from a AU$44 million, long-term revitalisation of the Chinatown and Haymarket precinct, which will see the addition of more trees, seats, lighting and public art in its public spaces.
