Marriott International is set to debut The Ritz-Carlton in Fiji, under an agreement with Luxurious Resort (Fiji) Pte Limited for a new-build hotel on the Coral Coast.
The Ritz-Carlton Fiji, Namuka Bay, expected to open in 2030, will occupy a 28-hectare beachfront site and feature 249 keys.
“It is exciting to reach agreement to debut The Ritz-Carlton in one of the world’s most desirable destinations,” said Marriott International Vice President of Hotel Development for Australia, New Zealand and Pacific, Richard Crawford.
“With Fiji experiencing significant growth in visitor numbers, market profile, and infrastructure, now is the ideal time to introduce Marriott’s luxury portfolio to the island.
“The government’s clear and coordinated commitment to sustainable tourism and quality hotel development is driving strong investor interest and attracting top-tier global brands.
“We expect the local benefits of this investment to be far-reaching, and we are confident that The Ritz-Carlton brand has the global cachet to attract new affluent travel markets to Fiji.”
The luxury resort, Marriott’s first on the Coral Coast, will be set against a mountainous jungle backdrop and be designed to reflect Fijian culture and heritage.
The accommodation offering will include 166 guest rooms and suites, most of which will offer ocean views, and 83 villas – expected to feature a private plunge pool and outdoor deck – including the 480 square metre Presidential Villa, with plans for a 186 square metre private pool, large balcony and yoga lounge.
The resort also intends to offer seven diverse culinary experiences, two large pools, an exercise area, yoga studio, tennis courts, a children’s recreation centre for the brand’s signature Ritz Kids programming; and The Ritz-Carlton Spa with plans for eight treatment rooms, sauna, dip pools and a salon.
There is expected to be 1,320 square metres of meetings and events space with natural light, including a 590 square metre ballroom, a junior ballroom, three meeting rooms, as well as a 40-seat chapel.
“As the largest resort operator in Fiji, we have historically focused on our elevated premium brands, such as Marriott, Sheraton, and Westin,” said Mariott International Australia, New Zealand, and Pacific Director Development, Tristan Cooper.
“However, to cater to even more discerning travelers, we are eager to secure footholds for our luxury portfolio, particularly The Ritz-Carlton.
“It is therefore exciting to have the chance to deliver on this objective, at a stunning beachfront location on the Coral Coast. The Ritz-Carlton Fiji, Namuka Bay will be a truly world-class offering, delivering the legendary service the brand is known for and the very best resort facilities in the country.
“The timing couldn’t be better, with our current resort portfolio in Fiji enjoying record-high occupancy levels, and our nearly 245 million Marriott Bonvoy members seeking even more choices and luxury experiences.”
Marriott International currently has five existing properties in Fiji, including Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay, Sheraton Denarau Villas, Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort, Sheraton Resort & Spa, Tokoriki Island, Fiji and The Westin Denarau Island Resort & Spa, Fiji (slated to reopen in 2025).
