The launch flight recorded a strong load factor of 90%, reflecting robust demand for the airline’s next generation aircraft.
The A330neo, a key addition to Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG)’s fleet, is set to gradually service long-haul routes across Australasia and beyond, redefining the travel experience for passengers onboard the popular Asia carrier.

Melbourne Airport’s Head of Commercial and Business Development, Michael Cullen, welcomed the arrival of the first flight.
“We’re Incredibly proud to be the first airport to receive Malaysia’s new A330neo aircraft. It’s a huge vote of confidence In Melbourne,” he said.
“The A330neo is a new product and will deliver an exceptional customer experience. Malaysia Airlines has been a partner of ours for many years and we look forward to continuing to grow together.”
The A330neo is the latest aircraft to join Malaysia Aviation Group’s growing fleet, with a total of 20 to be delivered by 2028.
Malaysia’s A330neo aircraft comprises 297 seats (28 in Business Class and 269 in Economy Class, of which 24 seats come with extra legroom).
With a 1-2-1 herringbone configuration, the newly designed Collins Aerospace Elevation Business Class seats will be a first for the Group, featuring an all-suite cabin with individual privacy doors which prioritises cabin comfort and practicality.
The aircraft also have high-speed connectivity, allowing all passengers, regardless of cabin class or loyalty tier, to enjoy complimentary WiFi onboard.
In addition, Business Class passengers can also indulge in the SkySnacks offering, a self-service concept featuring a curated selection of light snacks to munch at any time.
