Private equity firm KSL Capital Partners has taken a majority interest in sustainable luxury hospitality business, Soneva Group.

The move builds on KSL’s initial minority investment in the company in November 2019. Founded in 1995, Soneva operates award-winning resorts in the Maldives, including Soneva Fushi, Soneva Jani, Soneva Secret and the Soneva in Aqua yacht. A pioneer in responsible tourism, Soneva focuses on sustainable hospitality and intuitive, personalized service. “[This investment] underscores KSL’s continued conviction in Soneva’s long-term strategy and differentiated approach to ultra-luxury experiential travel,” KSL said in a statement. Leading Soneva’s next phase is Neil Gallagher, who has been appointed Chief Executive Officer. Gallagher brings more than two decades of experience across Europe, the Middle East, the US and the Caribbean. He previously served as CEO and CFO of Clermont Hotel Group (formerly glh Hotels Management) and held leadership roles at IHG Hotels and Resorts, including CFO, Europe, and Marriott Vacation Club International.
