ANA Managing Director – Australia and Oceania Region and General Manager, Sydney Branch, Maki Matsuzaki said the airline was proud to have maintained this route throughout the pandemic, which became the only scheduled passenger link between Australia and Japan during this time.
She said as demand for travel to and beyond Japan rapidly grew post-pandemic, ANA renewed its commitment to the Australian market in late March 2023 by increasing the schedule to the current two flights per day.
“Reaching this 10-year milestone is a proud moment for ANA, particularly as we remained the only scheduled passenger link between Australia and Japan during the pandemic,” she said.

“Sydney is the iconic gateway for our Australian passengers, and our expansion to two flights per day reflects our deep commitment to this market.
“Our team is always dedicated to providing thoughtful, high-quality hospitality.
“We thank our partners and passengers for a decade of support as we continue to connect our two countries,” she said.
To commemorate this significant milestone, the ANA Sydney team hosted a range of Check-In and ramp activities in the weeks leading up to the anniversary and on Friday 12 December 2025.
