Exclusive: inside Bowie House, Texas’ most stylish luxury hotel in Fort Worth

by James Wilkinson

When the doors opened in at Bowie House in late-2023, it ushered in a new era of luxury lodging in Fort Worth where style and eclectic Texas design mesh impeccably well with the food, drinks and Auberge’s authentic hospitality on offer. To find out more about the hottest luxury hotel in Texas, James Wilkinson sat down with Bowie House General Manager, Gaylord Lamy.

Gaylord, Bowie House is popular on so many levels, from the location to the pool, design, rooms and food and beverage on offer. Tell us about your favourite things at the luxury hotel.

What I love most about Bowie House is how effortlessly it captures the spirit of Fort Worth – refined but grounded, sophisticated yet full of warmth. It truly feels like Fort Worth’s living room, where locals and travellers naturally come together.

Every corner feels thoughtfully designed, from the art-filled public spaces to the pool terrace that’s a social hub of its own.

There’s an energy here that’s both cosmopolitan and distinctly Texan.

Tell us about the stylish rooms and suites on offer, which spans 88 Studios, 12 Lofts and 6 Suites, several with open-air balconies, that are in the theme of a wonderful, one-of-a-kind Western home.

The rooms and suites at Bowie House really go beyond the basics of a traditional stay; they’re designed to feel warm, inviting, and full of character.

Each space embodies the spirit of the West, with thoughtful touches that make it feel distinctly Fort Worth.

Whether it’s a Studio overlooking our courtyards, one of our spacious open-plan Lofts, or a specialty Suite, every room features luxe details like personalized bar carts, comfortable lounge areas, and original artwork inspired by the nearby Cultural District – it’s a true reflection of where we are.

Tell us about the fantastic food and beverage on offer, which is some of the best in Fort Worth.

The food and beverage program at Bowie House is one of our proudest achievements. Bricks and Horses, our signature restaurant, celebrates Texas ranching heritage through a modern lens, with elevated cuts of local beef, beautiful seasonal produce, and an extensive wine list and cocktails.

Our bar, The Yard, and Whinny’s each have their own personality, but all share the same commitment to local ingredients and genuine hospitality.

What’s your X-factor at Bowie House?

Our X-factor is the spirit of Fort Worth itself. Bowie House blends the sophistication of an Auberge property with the warmth, grit, and hospitality that define Texas.

It is a place where guests can experience the unexpected, whether that is discovering a local artist in our gallery, a world-class cocktail at The Bar, or a conversation that lingers long after the night ends.

What makes us different is how personal it all feels. Every moment here has a soul.

Gaylord, what are some of your favourite things to do in the local area?

With the Fort Worth Cultural District right on our doorstep, you can walk to the Kimbell Art Museum, the Modern, and the Amon Carter in just minutes.

I also love wandering through the Stockyards for a completely different slice of Fort Worth life or catching a live show at Bass Performance Hall.

ESSENTIALS: GETTING TO FORT WORTH, TEXAS

The best way of getting to Fort Worth in comfort and style.

Qantas’ brilliant Business Class ‘Suite’

FLY QANTAS IN BUSINESS CLASS

Qantas flies to Fort Worth direct from Sydney, with flights operated by Boeing 787-9 and Airbus A380 aircraft that feature the airline’s signature suite-style Business Class seats that can be reclined for take-off and landing, fantastic meals, premium Australian wines and one of the best in-flight entertainment systems in the sky.

Qantas will welcome its final A380 back to the fleet after a major service on January 1, 2026, when it takes off on the carrier’s Sydney to Dallas-Fort Worth services.

When that final A380 re-joins the fleet, Qantas will begin offering the A380 daily between the two cities for the first time since 2019 (the route is currently operated by a mix of A380 and B787 Dreamliner aircraft) and that means 40 per cent more seats to the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex than what’s currently on offer.
