Espresso Martinis, dessert carts take flight in Delta One

by James Wilkinson

Delta is kicking off the new year with a refreshed onboard food and beverage menu that is sure to delight many travellers, featuring the return of the signature Delta One dessert cart, espresso martinis, premium rosé wine, plant-based cheesesteak, seasonally inspired items and more.

“Your onboard meal or beverage should be no different than your go-to restaurant at home, and that’s why we’re constantly reinventing our onboard service at Delta – we always want to surprise and delight our customers with seasonal and fresh menu options,” said, Delta’s S.V.P. of In-Flight Service, Kristen Manion Taylor.

“From delicious Spanish tapas plates to refreshing rosé, there is something new for everyone to enjoy.”

These additions build on Delta’s extensive food and beverage program, which includes Du Nord Social Spirits; a variety of vegetarian menu options in partnership with Impossible Foods; partnerships with three James Beard Award-winning chefs and elevated onboard wine offerings with Imagery Estate Winery, led by award-winning female winemaker Jamie Benziger.

The latest menu refresh brings regional touches like traditional afternoon tea and tapas to pre-arrival menu selections, while seasonal additions feature comforting meals from favorite restaurants like New York’s Gramercy Tavern.

Delta is also bringing back its beloved Delta One dessert cart and the trolley of treats includes plated desserts, fruit and cheese plates, and a build-your-own ice cream sundae.

Customers can indulge with items like opera cake with chocolate ganache; Cowgirl Creamery wagon wheel, Midnight Moon gouda, and grapes; and a vanilla ice cream sundae with a choice of toppings like whipped cream, cookie crumble, fruit compote and chocolate chips.

Headlining the new in-flight beverage menu is the Tip Top Proper Cocktails’ Espresso Martini, a strong and smooth cocktail made in partnership with Counter Culture Coffee.

It boasts a delicious complexity from Counter Culture’s unique espresso blend and features rich notes of roasted coffee and vanilla bean.

Tip Top has been Delta’s onboard cocktail partner since 2021 – and starting this year, the brand will bring on more cocktail flavors in a rotational program.

Customers can look forward to their popular cocktail selections, which will be phased in as the year progresses, and include classics like Tip Top’s Old Fashioned, Espresso Martini, Bee’s Knees, Negroni and more.
