Situated in Japan’s largest ski area, Club Wyndham Shirakabaso Shiga Kogen, has been unveiled following a major refurbishment transforming the property into a year-round destination.

Re-designed to balance traditional Japanese style with modern minimalism, the move comes after the resort’s rebranding and 2024 acquisition by Travel and Leisure Co.

All  32 rooms have been upgraded with new furniture, soft furnishings and fixtures, while the resort’s restaurant has also been revitalised, now offering traditional Japanese and international cuisine during peak season. A new whiskey bar with locally produced sake will open just before ski season commences, and the resort’s onsens and common areas were also retouched.

“This transformation was a strategic investment in the quality of our club members’ experiences in one of the world’s best ski destinations. By elevating every touchpoint, we’re ensuring that the alpine stay for our Club Wyndham members is not only comfortable but truly unforgettable,” Travel + Leisure Co. Senior Vice President Operations, Warren Cullum said.

Club Wyndham Shirakabaso Shiga Kogen gives guests access to 15 ski areas directly via gondolas, lifts, and ski courses, while three additional ski areas require a short transfer.

Shiga Kogen is the closest major ski area to Tokyo; the trip, which includes a bullet train ride to Nagano Station and a final bus leg, is under three and a half hours.
