American loads-up the Northern Winter schedule with sun and snow flights

While summer is heating up, customers dreaming of skiing down glistening snow-topped slopes, exploring the mesas and mountains of New Mexico or relaxing on the beaches of Southwest Florida will have more options this winter with American Airlines.

“American is focused on giving our customers the most options to pick the perfect vacation destination, and now there are even more ways to turn travel dreams into reality,” said American’s Managing Director of Global Network Planning, Jason Reisinger.

Starting Dec. 18, American will launch new service to Sun Valley, Idaho (SUN), from both Chicago (ORD) and Phoenix (PHX), providing convenient one-stop connections from more than 150 destinations around the country to one of the most popular destinations for winter sports. Nestled between mountains, the region offers a variety of outdoor and indoor activities for trips with friends and family.

All flights to SUN will operate on dual-class aircraft, offering customers a choice of premium cabin for travel.

Travelers looking to check more than one slope off their bucket lists can also travel to other top destinations in the Mountain States for fresh snow and cozy lodges.

New this winter, American is launching flights to Aspen, Colorado (ASE) from Charlotte (CLT), connecting ASE with more destinations in the U.S. than any other airline. And, American will offer the only nonstop service in winter connecting Missoula, Montana (MSO), with ORD.

American will offer more than 70 daily flights this winter to top spots where travelers can head down the slopes on a bluebird day before rounding out the evening with hot cocoa around the fireplace.

The carrier is the largest airline serving Santa Fe, New Mexico (SAF), and will offer new service from ORD and Los Angeles (LAX).

Complementing existing service from Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) and PHX, convenient flights to SAF make visiting ‘The City of Different’ or traversing the slopes of Taos a must-do.

Customers will soon be able to book tickets to American’s 17th destination in California: Santa Maria (SMX).

Service will launch Oct. 15 with two daily flights from PHX. A visit to this Central Coast city will offer a chance to try Santa Maria-style barbecue or wine tasting. American will be the only global network carrier serving SMX.

Deciding between the perfect slope or the perfect wave can be a tough choice, but traveling with American means the opportunity to do both.

American’s winter lineup already includes new service from ORD to Honolulu (HNL); DFW to Kona, Hawaii (KOA); LAX to Brisbane, Australia (BNE); and record four daily flights between Miami (MIA) and Buenos Aires, Argentina (EZE).

American offers the most flights to the most destinations of any airline from the United States to Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America.

This December, the airline will launch its first-ever service to Puerto Escondido, Mexico (PXM), and launch four new routes to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic (PUJ).

In addition, during the November and December holiday season, American will offer nonstop service between PHX and Fort Myers, Florida (RSW).

Known for beaches, coastal islands and fresh seafood, a visit to Southwest Florida offers the perfect complement of warm sun before or after a winter sports getaway.
