American Airlines to serve legendary Texas barbecue inflight

by James Wilkinson

Customers aboard select American Airlines flights can enjoy an authentic taste of Texas on the way to New York as the airline partners with nationally recognised Pecan Lodge restaurant to serve Texas barbecue on board.

Since its founding in 2010, Pecan Lodge has been honored for its traditional Central Texas-style barbecue, which will take to the skies for the first time ever through this partnership with American.

In February, passengers in First Class on flights from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport to LaGuardia Airport and John F. Kennedy International Airport can enjoy an authentic Pecan Lodge barbecue platter featuring brisket and smoked sausage, paired with creamy mac and cheese and crisp coleslaw.

In March, American will offer a chopped brisket sandwich with roasted green beans and creamy potato salad.

Both options – served, of course, with a side of Pecan Lodge’s famous barbecue sauce – are only available for preorder through aa.com or American’s mobile app.

“As we celebrate American’s centennial anniversary in 2026, we’re looking forward to delighting our customers in new ways that honor unique regional tastes, beginning right here in our home state through one of the most beloved barbecue restaurants in Texas,” said American’s SVP of Customer Experience Design and Strategy, Rhonda Crawford.

“Our customers deserve nothing but the best, and Pecan Lodge is certainly that.”

The Pecan Lodge partnership is the latest in American’s commitment to elevating its customer experience, having recently partnered with Champagne Bollinger and Lavazza coffee both in lounges and in flight.

This month, American also started rolling out free WiFi to AAdvantage members, sponsored by AT&T.
