Travel + Leisure makes ‘strategic’ New Zealand expansion with Auckland addition

by Daisy Melwani

Travel + Leisure Co. has expanded its portfolio in New Zealand with a new Auckland addition, marking its eighth property in the country.

The leisure travel company acquired the management rights to, and apartments within, an Auckland CBD property currently operating as Barclay Suites Auckland.

“Auckland remains one of New Zealand’s most visited markets and a strategically important tourism destination. Recent data shows guest nights increased by five per cent last year, while Auckland Airport welcomed 2.4 million international arrivals in the 12 months to March 2026,” Travel + Leisure Co. President and Managing Director, International Operations, Barry Robinson said.

The 115-apartment property, located in Auckland’s CBD, is expected to be refurbished as part of its repositioning, after which it will join the Travel + Leisure Co. network of vacation club properties.

The property comprises fully self-contained one- and two-bedroom apartments, full kitchens and in-suite laundry facilities and balconies, many offering views of the Auckland Harbour and city skyline.

“Securing the management rights and an ownership position in a property of this quality, in New Zealand’s gateway city, is a strong strategic addition to our portfolio,” Robinson said. “Our investment in apartments within the property demonstrates our confidence in Auckland and in the continued growth of our business in New Zealand and beyond.

“Revitalising the property and introducing our expertise will provide us with a strong platform to deliver exceptional experiences for guests now and into the future,” he said.
