United’s latest aircraft, the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner featuring a new ‘Elevated’ interior, is set to be deployed on the Houston to Sydney route from October 2026.

The Elevated 787-9 will operate daily on the Houston–Sydney route during the Northern Hemisphere winter season and southbound flights will commence on October 24, with northbound flights beginning on October 26.

United’s Houston-Sydney route is one of the carrier’s longest in the world and elevating the journey with the latest seats is a huge boost for both business and leisure travellers.

United’s Boeing 787-9 aircraft with the all-new Elevated interior features a complete nose-to-tail redesign across every cabin.

Featuring 99 premium seats across Polaris Business and Premium Plus, it is United’s most premium international aircraft to date and introduces United Polaris Studio – a new premium suite that is 25% larger than the standard United Polaris seat.

The Polaris Studio features privacy doors, an additional ottoman for companions, exclusive onboard dining with curated wine pairings and caviar, wireless charging, Bluetooth connectivity, and a 27-inch 4K OLED seatback screen.

Every cabin has been upgraded on the latest Dreamliners, from the redesigned United Polaris suites with sliding doors and 19-inch 4K OLED screens, to refreshed seats in United Premium Plus and United Economy featuring 16-inch and 13-inch 4K OLED screens, respectively.

United plans to have 33 Elevated 787-9 aircraft in service by 2028 and further long-haul routes for the new jets are expected to be announced soon.

The Houston-Sydney seasonal service will conclude on 25 March for southbound flights and 27 March for northbound flights.
