by James Wilkinson

Since it opened in April 2024, art’otel London Hoxton has offered a unique hotel experience in the British Capital, fusing art, design and hospitality in the city’s ever-evolving, popular Hoxton and Shoreditch neighbourhoods. To find out more about this eclectic property, James Wilkinson spoke to art’otel London Hoxton General Manager, Axel Kruger.

Axel, the art’otel London Hoxton is popular on so many levels, from the location to the artworks, hospitality, overall design, rooms and food and beverage on offer. Tell us about your favourite things of the property.

What I love most about art’otel London Hoxton is how it captures the energy and creativity of its neighbourhood. Hoxton and Shoreditch are synonymous with art and innovation, and our property reflects that perfectly.

The hotel’s design, curated by our Signature Artist, D*Face, blends contemporary London street art with sophisticated design every space feels alive with personality.

The rooftop restaurant and bar, Solaya, are real highlights too, offering incredible city views and a buzzing atmosphere that perfectly complements the local vibe.

Tell us about the stylish rooms and suites on offer.

Our rooms and suites are a bold expression of Hoxton’s creative character. Each space features striking design details, bespoke furniture, and vibrant artwork by D*Face, giving guests a true sense of place.

Our dedicated Skyline suite floor on Level 23, provides unforgettable luxury accommodation, where every detail has been considered, including luxurious bedding, high-tech amenities, and panoramic views of London’s skyline. The suites also provide truly standout spaces for events with a creative and intimate feel and are ideal filming, interview and hospitality spaces.

Tell us about the fantastic food and beverage on offer, which is some of the best in Hoxton.

Our signature restaurant and bar, Solaya, sits on the 25th floor and is fast becoming one of the most talked-about destinations in East London.

The menus are driven by creativity and seasonality, fresh, bold, and beautifully presented dishes that celebrate modern European flavours. Guests can enjoy their meal with a view, or sunset cocktails overlooking the city.

We also have the benefit of The Brush East London Grand Café, Lounge and Cocktail Bar, and is the place to spend any moment of the day.

The Brush provides breakfast through to dinner, with a large al fresco terrace which can be used all year round. Both venues offer energy, music, and design to create an atmosphere that’s uniquely Hoxton, relaxed, artistic, and effortlessly cool.

What’s your x-factor at the art’otel London Hoxton?

Our X-factor lies in our creative soul. The hotel is not just inspired by art, it is art, brought to life through D*Face’s vision and our team’s passion for hospitality.

We provide a space where guests can connect, create, and feel part of something genuinely unique. It’s this blend of culture, comfort, and community that sets us apart.

How important is loyalty, particularly given the global popularity of Radisson Rewards?

Loyalty means everything to us. The Radisson Rewards programme allows us to thank our guests for their continued support while offering them exclusive benefits and experiences.

In a city as dynamic as London, it’s wonderful to see familiar faces returning, not only because of the art or design, but because they feel truly at home with us.

What are your favourite things to do in the local area?

Hoxton and Shoreditch are brimming with creativity from street art tours and independent galleries to vintage markets and pop-up exhibitions.

We recommend exploring Spitalfields Market and Columbia Road Flower Market on Sundays, browsing Boxpark Shoreditch, or simply getting lost among the area’s eclectic mix of boutiques, cafés and bars. There’s always something new to discover just steps from the hotel.
