The StandardX, Melbourne has opened a carefully curated retail concept on the ground floor of the hotel.

Open daily from 11AM -10:30PM, the retail store, known as The Box, is home to fashion, wellness, local beverages and gourmet items from some of Victoria’s best producers, designers and artisans.

Among the items on sale are handcrafted ceramics by Sam Gordon, bespoke The StandardX x Flâner candles, Orb Oils’ natural fragrances, vintage coffee-table books and international magazines, small-batch Four Pillars gin, wines from Victoria’s renowned regions, and bespoke Deering x The StandardX clothing designs. The StandardX, Melbourne opened in August 2024 as the first Australian property under the Standard International brand and marking the global debut of the StandardX.

The 125-room hotel features a contemporary aesthetic that spans eight floors and includes a rooftop bar offering panoramic views of Fitzroy and the CBD skyline. At the 2025 Australasia-Pacific Hotel Design Awards, The StandardX, Melbourne, designed by Hecker Guthrie and Woods Bagot, claimed the honours of Hotel of The Year – New Build, as well as the top prize of the 2025 Paul Davis Award for the Australasia-Pacific Hotel of the Year.
