Wayfarer TV: Air Canada to resume Sydney-Vancouver flights from December 17
Air Canada’s General Manager for Australia and New Zealand, Vic Naughton, said the carrier would operate four flights per week on a 300-seat B777-200LR featuring a choice of three cabins of service, Air Canada Signature Class, Premium Economy and Economy class.
The move comes alongside the northern nation’s announcement to reopen international borders on September 7 for travellers who have been fully vaccinated with the Government of Canada-accepted vaccines (Moderna, Pfizer, AstraZeneca, and J&J) at least 14 days prior to departure and who meet specific entry requirements to enter the country for non-essential travel.

The Australian Government has a ban on overseas travel in place until December 17 and details will be announced soon on outbound and inbound regulations.

Noughton said Air Canada’s commercial schedule may be adjusted as required based on the COVID-19 trajectory and government restrictions, however at this stage December 17 was the re-launch date.
He added passengers are responsible for ensuring they meet all government entry requirements, including holding the correct travel documents, visas, any required health certificates, and all other eligibility requirements for any flights they purchase.
At the same time as the December take-off announcement, Air Canada revealed an expanded partnership with Virgin Australia’s Velocity Frequent Flyer loyalty program.

Noughton said the expanded partnership allows Virgin Australia’s eight million Velocity Frequent Flyer loyalty program members to earn Velocity Points and Status Credits and redeem on eligible flights with Air Canada between Australia and Vancouver and beyond.
To earn Velocity Points with Air Canada, he said members simply need to enter their Velocity Frequent Flyer number when booking their flight directly at aircanada.com.

Noughton said Air Canada’s onboard services have resumed and will gradually feature new meals inspired by a panel of celebrated Canadian chefs on international flights departing Canada.
