With an enviable, elevated position in the middle of the village and breathtaking views of the Matterhorn, the Overlook Lodge by Cervo has quickly become the hottest address in Zermatt, following its opening in December 2017.

The intimate retreat in Switzerland’s Pennine Alps boasts five exclusive serviced apartments housed in a newly built lodge, perfectly placed for moments of exquisite isolation this coming winter season.

While the extensive facilities at the neighbouring Cervo Mountain Boutique Resort (a member of Design Hotels) ensure that no wish is left unfulfilled.

Rooms at Overlook Lodge boast views of the Matterhorn

ROOM WITH A VIEW

The Matterhorn is the undisputed star of the Overlook Lodge, and certainly the most visible one. Zermatt’s most famous landmark—and arguably the most recognizable of the Alpine peaks—is central to the design of each apartment.

Complementing this iconic view are the elegant, Alpine-inspired interiors, which incorporate classic design pieces from the likes of Hay and lighting by Lampe Gras. The Cosy Studio, Vista Studio, and the Vista Two Bedroom Apartment vary in size from 51 to 63 square meters and incorporate a fully-furnished kitchen with dining area, as well as a private terrace. Beds by Swedish brand Hästens ensure a restful sleep after a full day on the slopes.

The 152-square-meters Panoramic and Penthouse Apartments each have three bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, as well as a loggia and balcony with Matterhorn views. In the spacious living rooms, the wood-burning fireplace is a real eye-catcher and creates the perfect setting for an après-ski nightcap. Indulgent Molton Brown amenities in all the apartments lend a distinctly spa-like feel to the bathrooms.

THE ART OF SERVICE

Whether you are staying with family or friends, the Overlook Lodge is the perfect place to enjoy a private holiday without sacrificing the benefits of first-class service. This starts from the moment guests arrive at the train station, where they are collected by Cervo’s custom electric vehicle, in accordance with Zermatt’s strict no-car policy. The concierge team at the neighbouring Cervo Mountain Boutique Resort is on hand to arrange ski passes for the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise’s 360 kilometers of slopes, or lunch in a chic mountainside chalet, at a moment’s notice. Complimentary WiFi and a heated ski locker are also available at the lodge itself.

From the supermarket to the small but perfectly formed fromagerie, the village offers countless shopping opportunities. Guests are also able to arrange a personalized shopping basket or hamper on the day of arrival with the concierge team.

Indulgent mornings in bed are facilitated by the breakfast box, which can be hand-delivered to the apartment each day, while those of a more energetic nature can enjoy the lavish breakfast buffet at the Cervo Puro, located just 350 meters away.

To ease away the aches and pains of ski-filled days, in-room massages are available on request and guests also have access to a nearby, external spa area. In short, the Overlook Lodge offers the ultimate, all-rounder Alpine experience.
